Seeing Mallory & Tracy tie the knot earlier this month was an absolute DREAM!!! Man I don’t even know where to begin with these two!! They are two of the most incredible souls I’ve ever met and wear their hearts on their sleeves.
From the very start of meeting these two over zoom for the first time and just getting to know them for who they are as a couple, I knew they were my type of dream couple. They didn’t have the most traditional way of meeting- online. But I mean let’s face it, post covid, online dating has become the new normal. And let me be the first to say, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But let Mallory and Tracy be a prime example of the best way to meet in person for the first time- in a public setting and if you have your dogs like they did, bring them along. I love that their love story began with their dogs being included on the first day. No better way to do it!!! Because their dogs met each other in the very beginning of their relationship, their doggos are now best friends and inseparable, just like Mallory and Tracy are. When I asked them how they each knew they were meant to spend forever together, I will never forget what each of them said. Tracy said that Mallory keeps him honest and she represents all the better parts of him and she makes up for all of his weaknesses. And what that tells me is already, before even being married they are stronger together than apart and that is the best way to begin a marriage. And then what Mallory said about Tracy was that the communication was really easy. And that alone to me is beautiful, because communication is so overlooked in the world we live in today and it’s so easy to forget about that and get caught up in looks. But not only did Mallory find someone she feels like she can always communicate with, but also a best friend. There is no better thing than knowing you’re gonna get to marry your best friend and do life together for the rest of your lives.
When I asked them how they would describe their relationship, it was an answer filled with being comfortable around each other, being able to be witty and not being judged for it. Every couple’s answer to this is different, but the moment I hear something along the lines of there is humor in the relationship, I know we will all get along as I do a bunch of fun prompts in my sessions and Weddings that are not meant for the more serious couples. I knew from this moment on these 2 are all about the fun moments. And it was made even more clear to me the love these 2 share for each other when I had the joy of getting them in front of my camera for their Engagement session. So many cute moments and silliness I will never forget.
Now for their Wedding day!! Man alive is it one for the books!! I’ll never forget when Mallory reached back out to me after receiving their full gallery from their Engagement session what she said to me “I’ve been following your posts on Instagram and it’s no surprise to me all the positive in your feed- it’s because of you, your hard work, dedication, and positive outlook. All that being said, I wanted to take the time to intentionally connect with you regarding booking for our upcoming wedding. Tracy and I have been diligent with our planning and can’t think of a better fit for a photographer than you!” Those are some of the sweetest things I’ve had someone say about me and my business when asking if I’m available for their Wedding day and I’ll never forget them.
From start to finish, the Bowdish + Rogers Wedding was an absolute dream come true!!!! From the getting ready with Mallory and meeting a bunch of her family and Tracy’s family as well, to meeting up with Tracy at the venue, to their first look, to their portraits, to family formals, to bridals, and then to speeches and all the night time festivities, there was never a dull moment!!! So many beautiful moments throughout their entire Wedding day and I am so incredibly honored to have been chosen to be a part of it. Not only have been chosen to be a part of it, but to personally have been thanked in the thank you speech from Mallory and Tracy that began all the speeches for the evening. It never gets old being welcomed into the Wedding day by the family like I’m a part of their family and not just another vendor. It melts my heart in so many ways I cannot even begin to describe. So many family members came up to me and thanked me before the end of the night saying I had done such an incredible job the entire day with being professional and actively listening and accepting each special request from each family member helping them feel appreciated. The Bowdish and Rogers family together and now Mr. & Mrs. Rogers takes the meaning of family to a whole new level.
One more thing before I’m done here. I did so much reflection on the entire Wedding day throughout the night of where I started vs where I am now and I had to stop myself from tearing up a bit with how far I’ve come. The first Wedding I ever photographed 2 years ago in October was a very very small beach Wedding in Florida with about 15 guests maybe and the reception was in a hotel room. And this Wedding had about 75 guests at the most beautiful lake house venue. Back then, since I was so new to it, I really didn’t know how to pose the couple and now, 2 years later I’m posing the couple with their doggos which is a whole different avenue. Back then, I was shooting on a crop sensor camera with a 50mm so it was more like an 85mm. At this Wedding, I was shooting on 2 full frame cameras. And then back then, I had never touched a flash and was absolutely terrified of the idea of it. And now, I’m using 2 flashes in full manual mode which is a beast to conquer vs just doing the easy thing and throwing it on automatic. God has done so many amazing things in my life to grow my business over the last 2 years. While I didn’t plan to be in Colorado this fall, God’s plans are always greater than my own and I cannot wait to see where I’m at with my business a year from now.
Love,
Abigail
